I've got another blog besides this one now. It will be more personal while focusing on other stuff I'm into. This blog will still be movie oriented (whenever I do post in it!)

Zombie Holocaust (1980)

Hey? Did you like Lucio Fulci's film Zombi? Did you also like Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust? Well it just so happens you might enjoy Marino Girolami's Zombie Holocaust! While sharing more similarities with Zombi than with Cannibal Holocaust, it still feels more like a half baked cannibal film disguised as a Zombie film.

Like zombi and Cannibal Holocaust, Zombie Holocaust starts in New York City. Where doctors at a university notice parts missing off bodies and appearing to have been eaten. This eventually leads them to go to a south eastern Asian island, where they encounter droves of cannibals and some harmless zombies

Harmless Zombies? Yes that's what I said the Zombies in the film don't kill a single person, the cannibals on the island do all the killing. Without reaveling too much about the plot, the Zombies in this film are more like the voodoo kind seen in early 30s and 40s horror films. Which I will give it that for being unique, esspecially for an Italian Zombie film. However the cons in this movie far outweigh the pros.

For one the beginning is poorly paced and it seems to take forever to get to the Island. Where as in Zombi even though it takes a while to get to the island, it still works well with the slow pacing of the film, whereas this movie has the pace become pretty rapid in the middle. Nonetheless, even with a decent enough middle. The climax is awful, as it's basically 5 minutes of the main character trying to cut a belt.

This movie is bad that's for sure. It's an obvious rip off of Zombi and Cannibal Holocaust. It's not that its a ripoff which makes it bad, but the overall laziness of the production. I will say on the positive side that it has some great gore effects, including a zombie being killed with a boat propeller. So overall it's okay to watch once, and maybe to put on if you need some background noise.

45/100

Night of the Running Man (1995)

Night of the Running Man is a 1995 made for VHS film. It's about a Las Vegas taxi driver who gets mixed up with mob money and well... goes running with it.

Not really much to say about this movie. It's just a typical 90s B action movie. Pretty good for a Saturday night but not really much more. Its not offensively bad, but at the same time its nothing special. At least it doesn't commit the worst sin of film making - that is being boring.

Overall I'd give it a 7/10 for being decent enough to hold my attention for 90 minutes.

Really bad low budget movie. Don't watch it. It's not even worth its 40 minute run time.

Yeah I guess I can review some higher budget movies as well.

For a teen blockbuster this movie was actually really good I thought. So good in fact it blew the mediocre book out of the water. Great acting and the film was well shot. Even if you think it might be bad because of the hype still give it a try you might actually enjoy it.

8/10 is what I would give to this film

Freaking amazing Indonesian action movie. I haven't seen any other Arizal movies but after seeing this one Ive got to see more of them. This whole thing was just action for 90 straight minutes. About 20 cars blew up. And there was a character who was named Tom Selick! For real that was the characters name!

This movie I would I have to give a 10/10. Its perfect yet bad in every way and is perfect for a bad movie party.

Well this was quite a different film. From what I had seen of the film I assumed it would of been a parody of the "killer something" genre of films, but to my surprise it was really a crazy forth wall breaking meta comedy.

Personally this made me like the film even more than I would have if it was a regular B-movie parody. I thought it was rather cleverly made. I believe the movie really doesn't have a way of getting a decent fanbase. which is why its been negatively criticized. Its too meta and high concept for someone expecting a dumb B-movie, yet it's too dumb for some kinda artsy cinema snob.

Overall the movie gets a 8/10 from me.

Well I finally decided to give this movie a shot after finding it the other day, and I have to say after watching it that it is the finest "found footage" film that I have seen. A lot of great things come together and are done right in this film that found footage films in the United States seem to be unable to accomplish.

The basis of the plot concerns a group of filmmakers who are doing a documentary on some bear deaths in Norway. They then begin following a mysterious man who they find out is payed by the Norway's government to hunt and kill trolls so they can remain a mystery.

The acting in the movie is rather well done. Its nothing fancy, but I thought all the characters seemed genuine for the roles that they played. That's pretty much all I have to say on the acting

This movies effects are pretty good for a movie that appears to be low budget compared to most movies that come out today. The trolls all blend in the environment well, and while they do look unreal they also have a great lifelike feeling to them.

What I personally like best about the movie is that it explains stuff. Most found footage films are pretty vague on what is going on, but in "Trollhunter" we learn all about the different types of trolls and how they act. I feel like this movie really grabbed me with all myths about trolls and such and I really want to learn more about that.

"Trollhunter" unfortunately has had remake rights picked up here in the United States. Which means its probably going to be made into a generic found footage film that a bunch of preteen kids will like for a while, but whatever. As long as I can still watch this movie I think ill be content

4.5/5

Well
