So finally I decided to write about a movie. This film is 1963s Panic in Year Zero. It is a post apocalyptic film which chronicles the adventures of a normal family which is trying to stay alive in a world overrun by outlaws, and other dangers.

Honestly when I put the DVD of the film in I wasn't really expecting much. I thought it would be a normal 50s style communist paranoia atomic bomb film that iv'e seen dozens of time, but their is something different about this film that I think sets it apart. For one thing it doesn't really try to put very much of a message into the film, and also it never directly sets blame upon the Soviet Union for the start of the nuclear war. Which I thought was unusual for a film of this type.

Panic in Year Zero has some pretty average acting. Ray Milland is pretty good for the type of role he's in. He kind of has that wooden vibe that a lot of actors of this time had, but he does pretty good with that type of role I think. The supporting cast was decent, but I thought that the family, most notably the female roles were not very well developed.

Overall PIYZ is a pretty darn good 60s post apocalyptic film, and is defiantly unique for the style.

4.5-5
